This happened at McMurdo station this week. We had a safety meeting Monday morning to discuss fire safety. Not 4 hours latter the fire happened. It was far from the station and no one was ever in any danger. http://www.stuff.co.nz/4527605a10.html
My 15 minutes of fame and I am not even there for it… The two huge pine trees in my front yard get blown down in the wind. Made the front page of the Pine Bluffs paper.

My first auroral photos and the first time I have ever seen one in person. very intersting to see them pop up and grow brighter. they were showing up all over the place especially after my camera battery died. Then they were covering the sky!
